Mark Time Books
Mark Time Books are planned to provide an opportunity for poets invited to work with local designers, artists and producers to publish small collections of poetic gems from the heart of goldfields Victoria. The first collections, published in 2009, were Ross Donlon's Shh and other love poems and his My Ship. Other chapbooks now available are Rob Wallis's My Life as a Sheep Dog and B N Oakman's Chalk Dust (2009). In 2010 Ross Gillett's Wundawax, and Ray Liversidge's The Divorce Papers have been published. The complete list appears in the box at the foot of this page.
The distinctive prancing carousel horse logo is the work of artist, Lois Callister. Mark Time was the name of an ancestral horse raced in Murrumburra-Harden (NSW) in the nineteenth century.
The design is by Jean Cunningham, web developer, and production by Paul Shapcott. Robyn Gibson has provided the artwork for the cover of My Ship.
Mark Time Books was established in Castlemaine in 2009. The publications are a series of high-quality chapbooks in the tradition of booklets going back to the fifteenth century. In the past these were sold by chapmen, peddlers of knick-knacks and other kinds of ephemera, and contained anything from quality literature to scurrilous verse.
